European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)

This page is meant for non-degree seeking exchange students from foreign partner institutions of HTW Aalen University intending to study for one or two semesters in Aalen.

The validation of study and examination results will be handled according to the European Credit Transfer & Accumulation System “ECTS”, an integrative component of the European Erasmus mobility program. It has been applied to all areas of study at Aalen University as of a university senate decision in 1996 so to better regulate the transfer of credit points.

The most important components of ECTS are:

	1)		The ECTS Information Package which explains the concept, the grade calculation table, and contains as well general information for study in Aalen and all necessary application forms.

	2)		The "learning agreement", which exchange students from foreign partner institutions can generate by means of the shopping cart system below (must be for applying to HTW Aalen University).

	3)		The "transcript of record", the official English language grade report, which the secretary of your department of study at HTW Aalen University provides you with at the end of your stay here in Aalen.

Generate your learning agreement with the shopping cart system below:

	a)		Select the subject of your choice by clicking the ''choose-buttons" and place these in your personal learning agreement shopping cart by clicking on ''ok"'. The subject content can be viewed by clicking on the appropriate technical term. You may choose subjects from different departments.

	b)		Afterwards you can generate the learning agreement by entering the necessary personal and home institution related information into the appropriate fields. Then proceed to the generation of the agreement. You are now able to view your learning agreement and should print it out.

	c)		Before sending your learning agreement to the international relations office at HTW Aalen University, you and the appropriate authorities at your home university must sign the document.

	d)		Applications for a study abroad term at HTW Aalen University are only taken into consideration if a complete and signed learning agreement is attached along with the other requested application documents (refer to ECTS information package).
